Channel 4, Nominet Trust and Prospect present The DIY Generation: Education 2.0
Channel 4 will be hosting a series of events as part of this year’s Party Conference season. Partnering with the Nominet Trust and Prospect magazine, and chaired by Tom Chatfield from Prospect, the events will explore the impact of technology on young people. Today's teens are the first generation to have grown up with the web as part of their life. They expect to choose and control their media experiences, and are using technology to discover, share and learn independently, often outside of traditional school networks. Does this mark the emergence of an informed and educated DIY Generation—or are our teens surfing by on the most shallow definition of knowledge? And what is the role of our formal education systems in this brave new world?
